The Polish rolling stock company Cargounit and Siemens Mobility have signed two contracts for the supply of up to 100 locomotives of the Vectron and Smartron families.
The first contract covers the purchase of 90 Vectron multi-system electric locomotives, with a firm order for the first 30 units. Intended for operation in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Serbia, Romania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, they will be compatible with catenary voltages of 1,500 V dc, 3,000 V dc, 15 kV 16.7 Hz and 25 kV 50 Hz ac.
According to Siemens Mobility, the maximum power in direct current is 6,000 kW and in alternating current it increases to 6,400 kW. With this order, the fleet of Cargounit’s Vectron family increases to 66 locomotives.
The 10 new Smartron locomotives will be added to the 8 already purchased. These will only be compatible with a catenary voltage of 25 kV 50 Hz AC and Cargounit will use them to operate in Bulgaria and Romania. They have a maximum power of 5,600 kW.
